+ Tomosynthesis-Guided Breast Biopsy

Our centre is the first in Hong Kong that provides advanced stereotactic guided biopsy using 3D mammogram technique. It is suitable for biopsy of breast microcalcifications, masses, asymmetric densities and architectural distortions.

Vacuum assisted biopsy with marker placement and core biopsy are available.

Key Advantage of Tomosynthesis Guided Breast Biopsy compare with Traditional Stereotactic Guided Biopsy?

  • The lesion can be targeted more accurately

  • Some lesions are only visible in tomosynthesis images

  • More speedy targeting enables shorter procedure time

  • Reduces radiation dose as fewer exposures are required

+ Ultrasound Guided Breast Biopsy

Different types of biopsy methods and needles are available in our centers. The method of choice would be made by our referring clinicians and specialists after consultations to tailor individual needs. Our team is experienced and we value patient’s comfort and safety in addition to accuracy of tissue biopsy.

Vacuum Assisted Biopsy

  • Minimally invasive procedure

  • Day procedure under local anaesthesia

  • Small skin wound, suture not necessary

  • Can remove lesion completely. Localization marker will be placed after biopsy if needed

  • Sampling size larger than core biopsy and fine needle aspiration, thus more accurate result

  • Can replace open surgery for removal of benign lesion such as fibroadenoma

Core Biopsy

  • Day procedure under local anaesthesia

  • No skin incision

  • Aim at tissue sampling for histologic analysis, to guide further management

  • Differentiate invasive or in-situ cancer

  • Provide samples for breast cancer marker analysis

Fine Needle Aspiration

  • Day procedure mainly for cystic lesion

  • No skin incision

  • For cytological analysis only

  • May need biopsy for further evaluation

Our specialists are visiting doctors in various private hospitals. We also provide in-patient biopsy services in local hospitals should patient prefer. Please talk to our staff for more information.
